Williams Racing has announced the addition of Victor Martins to its Driver Academy, effective March 31, 2025. The 23-year-old Frenchman, a former FIA Formula 3 champion and ex-Alpine junior, joins the Grove-based team as its ninth academy member.

Victor Martins brings an impressive résumé to Williams. Born in Quincy-sous-Sénart, France, Martins rose to prominence in 2022 when he clinched the FIA Formula 3 Drivers’ Championship with ART Grand Prix. That season, he secured two feature race wins, three sprint race victories, and a total of seven podiums.

Martins’s 2024 F2 campaign with ART Grand Prix saw him finish fifth in the Drivers’ Championship, with two victories and four podiums to his name. Despite stepping away from the Alpine Academy earlier this year, his performances underscored his potential as a future F1 contender.

Now, Williams has swooped in to secure his services, offering him a platform to further his development while contributing to the team’s long-term vision.

Martins joins a 2025 lineup that includes F2-bound Luke Browning (Hitech GP), F1 Academy racer Lia Block (ART Grand Prix), and a quartet of karting prospects: Sara Matsui (OK class), Dean Hoogendoorn (OKJ), Will Green (OKJ), and Lucas Palacio (OKJ-N).

“We’re delighted to welcome Victor to the Williams Racing Driver Academy,” said Smeets. “His achievements in Formula 3 and strong performances in Formula 2 demonstrate his skill and determination. Victor’s addition strengthens our academy, and we’re excited to support his journey as he continues to develop his craft.”
